Sleepless Thoughts In A Small Town
I sit here working late as this is the time when my mind opens up rather than winding down for the night.
I have been told I am a busy lady, and I am, but it isn't due to anything but trying to avoid the reality of the world as it is today. I am constantly finding new things to do just to change up my brain functions, and also keep my mind off of how our world is changing. Sometimes for kicks I drink wine and shop online for new projects. Then a new surprise thing I just had to have arrives at the door a week later. This is both disturbing and awesome. I guess I decided I was going to learn how to make cheese a while back and the cheese making kit is now sitting on the counter waiting for me to set a day aside to fully immerse myself into the art of the curds and whey.
So many people are stressed out and worried about the future more than any time I have ever experienced. I do my best to ease some of the stress my clients have by working them on my table and also introducing them to guided meditation and hypnotherapy. And by doing this it helps me to feel accomplished and necessary.
I saw a cartoon post showing a woman struggling to help everyone else and forgetting to help herself and tend to her own needs. I resonate with this as helping others makes me happy, and sometimes it makes me very, very tired. I am sure there are many of you out there who are just like me, helping others in your respective professions. It can be draining if you don't watch out for yourself and your own mental health.
It's ok to help people, but remember to help yourself too. Change up your thought processes and find a new project. I don't necessarily suggest doing what I did (shop online while drinking a glass of wine) but I do recommend trying something that makes your soul happy.
